As we work to continually improve opportunities for students, reliable hard data is necessary for making informed decisions and meaningful change. The Perpich Center for Arts Education is helping schools with data collection and analysis by conducting the groundbreaking 2010 Minnesota Arts Education Survey this fall.

Commissioner Alice Seagren supports this initiative and asks that each school participate. Read a letter from the commissioner to principals.

If you are a Minnesota principal, please complete these steps:

1. You may download a copy of the survey questions and the instructions, located below, to use as you collect the information. (Note: your final answers must be submitted online; the survey tool on this page is for information gathering purposes only.) 2. Determine who is the best person to provide the information for each question. We suggest you arrange for the assistance of your art, media arts, music, dance and theater teachers to help you gather the survey information.

3. Once all the information is gathered you are ready to enter survey answers into the online system. Online submission is required. The online survey link is:

Your login code is your MDE assigned four digit "district number" and your three digit "school number" combined into a single seven digit number.

An Example: School A is in the Foley Public School District. The state assigned district number is "0051." School A has an assigned "school number" of "023." The School A login code for the survey will be "0051023." The district number and school number must be four and three digits respectively.

You will receive reminder e-mails from the Perpich Center, and from MESPA, MASSP and MISF if you are a member of these organizations.
