ACE-Theater Grant Application Now Available

Art Courses for Educators (ACE)~Theater provides professional development in Theater education for teachers across the state. Applications are now being accepted for the next program, which will begin in August 2011. During the 2011/2012 academic year, K-8 school teams will attend workshops at the Perpich Center and receive on-site consulting and mentoring from experienced Theater Artist-Educators. Participating schools also receive a grant to cover expenses associated with the program.

Teams from schools/districts selected to participate in the ACE~Theater program receive professional development support in:

•    Teaching foundational theater skills and concepts to their students

•    Using theater strategies to improve literacy

•    Integrating theater with other content areas

•    Curriculum Design (aligned with MN Academic Theater Standards)

Applications must be received by Wednesday, April 13, 2011. Hand delivered applications will be accepted until 4:00 PM on April 13, 2011.

Guidelines for Application:

•    Public school teachers from across the State of Minnesota are invited to apply. Teams consist of 2-5 members, and may be school or district-based.

•   Plan ahead--the application requires signatures from teachers, school prinicipal and the authorizing official (often the superintendent).

ACE~Theater is a program of the Perpich Center for Arts Education; funding for all ACE programs is contingent on availability of funds and an appropriation by the Minnesota Legislature.
